We are seeking to appoint a practical, hardworking and reliable Attendance and Pastoral Officer to join our office and safeguarding team at St Peter & St Paul Church of England Primary Academy & Nursery, in the beautiful rural village of Carbrooke from October 2022. Our Academy has eight classes including the nursery with circa 250 pupils on roll and is part of the Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust (DNEAT).

The position is:

  • 17 hrs /week, approximately split 9 hrs for attendance activities and 8hrs for pastoral work
  • Monday to Friday term time plus 3.5 days during school holidays for training.
  • Permanent
  • Salary Scale F Point: 12-14 depending upon experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and determined practitioner for a new role created with our academy in mind, who will also work closely with our administration and leadership teams.  You will be able to maintain daily attendance data on the school MIS system, implement and uphold the Academy’s attendance policy and work with other colleagues presently undertaking pastoral support for pupils and families.

The pastoral elements of the role will include support for home/school transitions, following up with individual pupils with pupil voice and their feelings and wishes, linked to tier 2 services and working alongside the School Leadership Team (SLT) to support pupil and parent liaison. The role would include interventions such as drawing and talking, time4me or play therapy and listening to groups of children read, in line with our phonics programme.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent practioner passionate about children’s development
  • Consistently sets high expectations for pupils
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills working with a range of stakeholders
  • Has knowledge of safeguarding skills in an educational setting
  • Is confident in using basic IT software and have some administrative experience
  • Holds Mathematics and English GCSE or equivalent, grade 4 /pass.
