Invitation – Net Zero Event – Wednesday 19th October –  Green Flag Awards for all School – PECT

Our commitment to you all after our conference in June (Your Actions: Their Future: Your Path to Carbon Neutrality) was that we would be carrying on our Eco Friendly initiatives as we move forward.

The feedback that we received was that you would like more bite sized online sessions and so we have organised  5 sessions as previously announced in eComms and bComms

19th October – Green Flag Award, School focussed projects with PECT (Peterborough Environmental City Trust) – Whole school focus

1st December – Energy – Business Manager focus

18th January – Teaching Resources – Teaching Focus

22nd March – Waste / Recycling – Whole school Focus

23rd May – Water -Whole School focus

Our first is on Wednesday 19th October, and the aim of this is to get as many of our schools across our 2 MATs involved.

This is going to be a on line meeting for 16:00 – 17:30.

We have set this session up for our staff very much with the aim of getting our pupils as involved as possible, as soon as possible, as we understand that this in an area that is so very important to them.

Therefore our 2 guest speakers are : –

Adam Flint (Eco Schools) who will be talking showing us through the stages of how we can gain the Eco Schools Green Flag Accreditation. He will be talking us through the programme which is designed to engage our pupils, and provide practical advice and inspiration to make a difference to our schools and local communities.

Heidi Latronico (PECT). Many of you will remember Heidi from our conference and the feedback that we received was that you would like to hear more from her about the fantastic PECT initiatives.

We feel that these 2 companies will very much support the aim of Net Zero by 2030, and help to bring this increasingly to the everyday lives and the future of those pupils that we support in a very practical way.

The Green Flag Accreditation programme asks you to select 3 Eco School topics to focus on over the year. One of these is Waste, so some of the information that Heidi will share lends itself brilliantly to supporting this topic and will allow schools to support 2 additional topics of choice.

Here are a few head line figures from Eco-Schools

I really hope that representatives from as many of our schools as possible will get involved in these fantastic initiatives.
