Partnership receives a musical reception
The Trinity Federation, which includes St Peter’s Easton Church of England Primary Academy, Hockering and Great Witchingham Primary schools (part of the Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust), has formed a working partnership with Cawston Church of England Primary Academy.
Mrs Rebecca Newman, Executive Headteacher of the Trinity Federation said: “We are excited about our working partnership with Cawston Church of England Primary Academy and one of our cross-working partnerships will be our love of music.”
Mrs Newman is a talented musician having studied music at the UEA specialising in singing. She sings in Keswick Hall Choir and plays percussion for the Norwich Philharmonic. With her musical background, the partnership is focussing on music which is a perfect way to bring the schools together.
“We are focusing on music which is an excellent opportunity for the children to learn together. Cawston Church of England Primary’s Year 4 are benefitting from Samba musical lessons and at the end of their musical sessions the children will come over to St Peter’s Church of England Primary Academy at Easton and join with Year 4’s there for a joint session. We are grateful that Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust (DNEAT) has funded samba lessons for Cawston Church of England Primary Academy to carry on in to 2022-23.”
Mrs Sharon Brett, Head of School at Cawston Church of England Primary Academy says: “We are excited to showcase our musical talents with our partner schools. The opportunity provided by the partnership to experience different musical instruments and to perform to a wider community supports our vision of growing excellence in all our children.”
Oliver Burwood, CEO of Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust (DNEAT) said: “I’m delighted that our Trust can support this important and exciting partnership work for children at Trinity and Cawston. We are committed to supporting a broad and balanced curriculum for children in all of our academies and know the power and impact that music can have for our young people.”
Other musical events that all the schools will be taking part in is the Royal Salute event at the Norfolk Show, where many children from Norfolk schools will be singing to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.
