Reassuring Life Saving Equipment for Village

February 12, 2024

Yaxham Church of England Primary part of the Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust (DNEAT) has installed a life-saving defibrillator on the school building which is situated in Clint Green.

The team at Yaxham Church of England Primary Academy were really pleased to have the support of the local community to have a defibrillator installed on an external wall of the building, allowing it to be accessed out of school hours.

Mrs Jennie Müller, Head Teacher of Yaxham Church of England Primary said: “In July 2023 the Department for Education committed to ensuring that all state schools had access to a defibrillator, providing lifesaving treatment where needed for pupils, staff and families. Our Parish Council having heard of the campaign, offered to support us and arranged the installation of the cabinet which they provided.  It will be a huge reassurance to the local community to have access to this equipment on the doorstep accessible at any time, day or night. As a school we are really pleased to be able the share the benefit. We are incredibly grateful to the Parish Council and to Power-Medix for their support in this process.

Mr Gary Davidson of Yaxham Parish Council said: “Yaxham Parish Council are pleased to work in partnership with Power-Medix, local electricians (www.power-medix.co.uk), who did the electrical work free of charge as a good will gesture to the community. The defib itself was provided by the school and the protective box was provided by the Parish Council. If anyone contacts the ambulance service with a possible cardiac arrest they will be given the location of the defib and the code to open the cabinet. Early defibrillation is key for a better chance of survival.”

Yaxham Church of England Primary Academy has 74 pupils and employs 15 staff and recently joined DNEAT. The school was rated Good by OFSTED in January 2023.
