Sculthorpe Primary refurbishes school library

September 22, 2023

The children of Sculthorpe CofE Primary Academy have returned to the new term with a newly refurbished library.

The staff from Norfolk Children’s Book Centre worked very hard for three days to refurbish the library with new books and existing books that have been carefully rearranged.

The new-look library now has a welcoming and useable space for the children and staff to read and share books, installing a love of reading.

Miss Daboo, Head of School said “We are so fortunate to have been given the funding to refurbish our library and it was so lovely to see the children excited to pick up and share books. Reading for pleasure is going to be a priority for our school this year and the new library will help us achieve this.”

Gill Yarman, school governor said: “It was lovely to see how excited the children were to be having a new library …. And each child was given a pair of scissors so they could play their part in cutting the ribbon!  Well done! “

Miss Hayes, Executive Head said: “A massive thank you to the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre for all of their hard work in getting the library ready. Having a resource of books in our schools is really important to us in helping to promote a love of reading. We know that the children are going to get hours of enjoyment from all the new books.”

Father Clive said it was a pleasure to attend the grand opening of the library and gave thanks to the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre for all their help.

On Roald Dahl day (Sept 13th), the school hosted a grand opening of the library, welcoming parents, governors and Father Clive to share in this experience.

The children sang ‘there’s a world inside my book’ song, listened to some author’s letters and poems that were personalised to our school and then every child played their part by cutting the ribbon.
