Whitefriars Learning about Livestock Project

March 22, 2024

Whitefriars Church of England Primary Academy took part in the Learning about Livestock Project which gave the children the opportunity to look after a ewe and its lambs. This year, the lender was Josh Hill who delivered a zwartble ewe and her two lambs that are zwartble crossed with wensleydale.

The school signed up to the project to give the children the unique experience of having sheep at school and being able to understand how to look after different animals. The whole school have spent time with the sheep throughout the week. They have been feeding them, making sure they have enough water, mucking out and cuddling the lambs!

The children love spending time with the sheep and have been so excited to have them this week. This project links especially well with our ‘Living and Growing’ topic in Reception. Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed having the sheep this week and we hope to have some again next year!
